The Office of Inspector General (OIG) of the Nebraska Correctional System is an independent oversight body established by the Nebraska Legislature in 2015 to increase accountability and oversight of the state correctional system, and it operates as a subdivision of the Division of Legislative Oversight. The office identifies and examines systemic issues within the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services and investigates incidents resulting in death or serious injury inside the correctional system. It publishes an annual report of findings and recommendations each year, due September 15. The page gives the contact details for reaching the office: phone (402) 471-4215, email oigcorrections@leg.ne.gov, mailing address State Capitol, P.O. Box 94604, Lincoln, NE 68509-4604, and an office at the Centre Terrace Building, 1225 L Street, Suite 300, Lincoln.
