Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 - Reporting (Illinois DOC)

The Illinois Department of Corrections PREA page sets out the department's zero-tolerance policy and how to report institutional sexual abuse or staff sexual misconduct. Anyone with information about an individual in custody who has been sexually abused or harassed under IDOC custody or community supervision is directed to call 217-558-4013; the page states calls to this number at IDOC Headquarters are recorded and messages are checked periodically Monday through Friday during business hours by the Investigations Unit. Callers need not give their name but are asked for names and locations of people involved, witnesses, the IDOC individual in custody number, a description of the incident and location, and dates and times. The page states that individuals in custody can report by submitting a request slip, filing a grievance, telling a trusted staff member, or asking a family member or friend to call the report line.
