Vermont DOC administrative directive 327.01 is the statewide policy governing visits at Vermont correctional facilities. Each facility must schedule no less than six hours of visiting periods per week, no single visit may exceed two hours, and unless restricted through due process each inmate is allowed one visit per week in addition to legal and religious visits. Inmates may list a maximum of ten people on their visiting list, with changes permitted every 90 days, and may not list victims of their offence. A maximum of three visitors may attend at one time, all visitors need government-issued photo identification, and everyone must clear a walk-through metal detector. The directive also covers attorney and clergy visits, special visits for out-of-state travellers, non-contact visit criteria, grounds for denying or terminating a visit, and includes the visitor dress code and victim-offender visitation request forms. Note the stated effective date is June 26, 2006.
