New Hampshire Department of Corrections page explaining how to get onto an incarcerated person's visiting list. Visiting is described as a privilege, and inmates are authorised two visits weekly, with attorney, clergy and other official visits not counted against that quota. Unusually among states, all visitors must fill out a visitor's application and send it directly to the inmate they wish to visit rather than to the department, and the incarcerated person must request that a prospective visitor be added to their list. Inmates may have an unlimited number of family members on the list. Applicants supply full name, address, phone number, date of birth and an identifying number from a driver's licence, military ID or non-driver ID, and must certify that no court or parole board has ordered them to refrain from contact. All visitors undergo a criminal background check, and the process takes approximately four weeks. Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an approved adult family member or legal guardian already on the list. A visitor dress code is published alongside.
