Kansas Department of Corrections in-person visitation FAQ. Each resident may have a maximum of 20 visitors on their list; the resident obtains the request form from a unit counselor and mails it to the prospective visitor, who completes it and mails it back for a criminal background check. Visiting privileges follow the incentive level: intake level allows only attorneys, clergy and law enforcement, Level I adds a primary visitor and immediate family, and Levels II and III allow any approved visitor. Contact is limited to a brief embrace or kiss at the beginning and end of the visit, and hand holding is not allowed. Wardens may approve special visits, including for visitors who travel 150 miles or more one way. Visitors removed from a list may not reapply for at least 180 days.
