Talk to an Offender on the Phone: Rates and Accounts (Iowa DOC)

Iowa DOC page explaining the offender telephone service. No incoming calls are allowed; the incarcerated person must add a number to their approved calling list before they can call you. Calls to the lower 48 states cost $0.07, while Alaska, Hawaii and international rates vary, and a downloadable telephone rate sheet effective May 1, 2026 is posted. Money can be moved onto a phone account from the commissary account, or a money order can be mailed with the Offender Telephone Service Form, which is also available in Spanish. The page notes that Iowa Code chapter 904.508A authorises an inmate telephone fund whose proceeds the Board of Corrections directs to legal services, religious accommodations, education and victim services.
